What is engaged learning? From my experience and training it is when everyone within the classroom is actively engaged in the learning process to improve academic performance with a minimal amount of time being wasted. Unfortunately, the results from the Nation’s Report Card tell us that young people are not performing at the levels required to compete as knowledge workers in the 21st century. Youth covers the population between the age group of 15 to 35 years which constitutes about 330 million comprising 34% of the total population. This gives us an idea of the vast human resource that the youth represent in our country. The world is changing rapidly, and young people need to be prepared to rise to the new opportunities. If we go in for any kind of reservations on communal and caste basis, we will swamp the bright and able people and remain second rate or third rate. The moment we encourage the second rate, we are lost. And then he adds pointedly: This way lies not only folly, but also disaster.
National economic development is pivoted on the availability of good infrastructure. As path-breaking concepts, frameworks and methodologies are being evolved, at the national, state and local levels, especially in the critical facets of infrastructure management such as financing, contracting and regulation, an Infrastructure Manager today needs to have a variety of skills.
